FLOOR POLISH

Last weekend, I attend a coference arranged by Institute of Marine Engineers. As I went through the launge my eyes caught floor polish work going on to the marble floor. My mind went on thinking, yes its a simple product but with good demand.... 'FLOOR POLISH'!

In the present scenario, almost all commercial establishments are provided with ceramic, mosaic, granite and marble floorings. This made it necessary for the periodical floor polishing. With the advent of star hotels and sort, the demand for polish materials increasing. Here comes the demand for the FLOOR POLISH, a simple product to make and market in the local areas on a small scale. It comes in a semi indutrial product group which is used in mainly commercial establishments like hotels, shopping malls, hospitals. Preparing customised floor polish is even possible as the target market is local establishments with regualr demand.
THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS:
Floor polish consists of a mixture of a few waxes well distributed in a suitable solvent and some times customized with a fragrance too.

Melting process would be started with the wax having the highest melting point (approx.96C)and then other waxes in descending order of melting points would be added with continuous stirring. When the wax melt becomes a homegenious emelsfier, wax soluble dyes dissolved in a suitable solvent, would be added at 80C. This charge should not be allowed to cool rapidly. It is poured in standard tin containers while still in viscous state. Pouring process should take place in an airconditioned atmosphere so that the mixture doesnot cool down at a rapid rate.
